Founded by Wallabies. Driven by Mateship. Changing Lives Through Sport.
The Cauliflower Club of Australia was established in 2012 by a group of former Wallabies and rugby fanatics, led by Peter FitzSimons (President) and Nick Farr-Jones (Vice-President).
Named after the iconic "cauliflower ear" that rugby forwards earn through years of scrummaging, the club embodies the toughness, resilience, and mateship that define rugby union.
What started as a simple idea among mates—to use rugby's community spirit for good—has grown into one of Australia's most beloved sporting charities, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for people living with spinal cord injuries and disabilities.
The Cauliflower Club of Australia exists to harness the power of the rugby community to provide adaptive sporting and recreational equipment for people living with spinal cord injuries and disabilities. We believe every person deserves the opportunity to experience the physical, social and emotional benefits of sport.
We draw on the bonds of rugby union to bring together players, supporters and the wider community in service of a common cause.
We believe sport should be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability. Adaptive equipment makes that possible.
As a registered ACNC charity, we are committed to full accountability. Every dollar raised is directed to equipment and programs.
We measure success not in dollars alone, but in the lives changed—the people who can now ride, compete and thrive because of adaptive sport.
Peter FitzSimons, Nick Farr-Jones and a group of former Wallabies establish the Cauliflower Club to unite the rugby community for charitable giving.
The Cauliflower Club is officially registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
The Annual Fundraising Lunch attracts rugby royalty including John Eales, George Gregan, and Rod McQueen, establishing the club's flagship event.
The 2024 Annual Fundraising Lunch raises $85,000 with 530 guests, including the Prime Minister, funding three adaptive off-road mountain bikes for Sargood on Collaroy.
The club raises $58,761 at the 2025 lunch, continuing to expand its reach and impact for people living with disabilities.
The Cauliflower Club is led by some of Australia's most respected rugby figures, all serving in a volunteer capacity.
